VISIT TO THE MICROWAVE AND RADIATION LAB - UNIVERSITY OF PISA

Planned in January 2017 is a visit to the Microwave and Radiation Laboratory, Univeristy of Pisa, Italy. Members of the project will present research activities on Dynamical Energy Analysis to Prof. Giuliano Manara, an expert in EM ray tracing algorithms and uniform theory of diffraction. 
It will be an opportunity for project members to learn more of Prof. Manara's research, discuss future collaborations and possible joint proposals. 


MINI-WORKSHOP AT TELECOM ITALIA LAB

Gregor Tanner, Stephen C Creagh, Gabriele Gradoni, and Hayan Nasser from UoN have organised a mini-workshop at the Turin Headquarter of Telecom Italia Lab, Italy, to discuss the role of high frequency EM simulation in the coverage planning of mmWave environments as the backbone of 5G mobile networks.

Members of the NEMF21 Project organized a special session on ``Wave Chaos and Complexity'', co-chaired by University of Nottingham's Gregor Tanner and Gabriele Gradoni, at the URSI ElectroMagnetic Theory Symposium (EMTS) 2016, August 2016, Espoo, Finland: http://www.emts2016.org/

Gregor and Gabriele presented two contributed papers, one of which was the recipient the Young Scientist Awards.

Within a side project with Telecom Italia Lab, Italy, Gabriele Gradoni attended the European Electromagnetics Symposium, Imperial College, London, July 2016, where he presented a research on the application of the Random Coupling Model to predict the propagation of wireless signals inside buildings, in collaboration with Prof. Thomas Antonsen (University of Maryland, College Park, USA) and Davide Micheli (Telecom Italia Lab, Rome, Italy)

PARTICIPATION IN THE IEEE SYMPOSIUM ON METROLOGY IN AEROSPACE 2016

A paper entitled 'High Frequency Propagation in Large and Multiply Connected Electromagnetic Environments,' was presented by Gabriele Gradoni and the IEEE Symposium on Metrology in Aerospace 2016, June 2016, Florence, Italy. It was also awarded the Best Poster Paper Award.
